July 22, 2021, Columbus, Georgia — The Youth Orchestra of Greater Columbus (YOGC) will be hosting an audition date for the 2021-2022 season on Saturday, August 21, 2021 from 9am-2pm at the Schwob School of Music next to the RiverCenter for the Performing Arts.

To reserve an audition time, submit the completed application online or by mail along with the $10 registration fee. Once you register, you will receive an email from YOGC staff confirming your audition time and will work with families to accommodate schedules and any other barriers to auditioning. Auditions will dictate ensemble and chair placement for strings, and are competitive for woodwind, brass and percussion. Former members of the YOGC are not guaranteed a position and must audition each year. To sign up for an audition, please visit us at our website: www.yogc.org/auditions.

Accepted musicians will be required to attend the season kickoff on Saturday, August 28th, and weekly rehearsals begin August 30th, all at the Schwob School of Music.

“If you, a family member, or a friend has been playing an orchestral instrument for at least a year, YOGC is absolutely the best possible opportunity for them to deepen their musicianship and make life-long friends. We have planned a really stellar season for our musicians, and we want you to be a part of it!” – Stephanie Payne, Executive Director, YOGC.

Since 1993, the Youth Orchestra of Greater Columbus has been teaching the area’s most talented young musicians. Led by nationally-awarded Music Director and Conductor Jim Palmer, YOGC maintains the only symphonic orchestral opportunity in the region for children; a string orchestra; a chamber group program; a non-adjudicated music festival provided at no cost to local public school music programs; and a week-long summer string camp focused on alternative genres of music and playing styles.
