YOGC 19-20 SEASON SCHEDULE CHANGES
March 19, 2020, Columbus, Georgia—Due to ongoing health concerns and CSU’s extended closure, YOGC has cancelled all rehearsals, coachings, and sectionals until further notice. YOGC is postponing the April 7 Chamber Group recital and April 28 Myths & Legends concert indefinitely. We have systems in place to make healthy, informed decisions as vital information becomes available and will continue to disseminate information as soon as final decisions are made.
The Maestro for a Moment campaign remains a vital part of YOGC’s annual budget, and voting is still live at www.yogc.org. All support ensures that YOGC will be able to resume and reschedule all planned programming once it is safe to do so. Thank you for your support!
Registrations for auditions and the Summer String Camp are open at www.yogc.org. As of right now, there have been no changes with those events. We will be in touch to update registrants if new information becomes available.
We are working hard to continue to serve our community from a distance and appreciate any support you are willing to provide. We have created a compilation of FREE music and music education resources available right now, which you can access here or from the YOGC Facebook page. We are working on additional ways to continue to foster and support the community and friendships our musicians and families value so much as well.
Please reach out to me at spayne@yogc.org or via direct message on our Facebook or Instagram accounts if you have any questions or concerns. YOGC staff is working from home for the foreseeable future, so the office phone will not be answered. However, voicemail messages are being forwarded to email, so please leave an email address so we can return your message as soon as possible.
Please stay safe and healthy,
Stephanie Payne
Executive Director, YOGC
Since 1993, the Youth Orchestra of Greater Columbus has been teaching the area’s most talented young musicians. Led by music director Jim Palmer, YOGC maintains the only symphonic orchestral opportunity in the region for string, brass, wind, and percussion musicians; a string orchestra for intermediate string players; five chamber groups; an orchestra festival provided at no cost to MCSD school orchestra programs; and a week-long summer string camp focused on alternative genres of music and playing styles. Rehearsals are held each Monday evening during the school season at the CSU Schwob School of Music. For additional information e-mail info@yogc.org.
