November 08, 2019, Columbus, Georgia—The Youth Orchestra of Greater Columbus (YOGC) is proud to announce that Synovus is renewing their support for YOGC’s 2019 Georgia Gives Day campaign, a one-day giving spree on December 3rd benefiting non-profit organizations state-wide. They have given a Challenge Grant of $2,500 in order to encourage additional support. Donations can be made starting November 1st directly to YOGC, designated to the campaign, or on their Georgia Gives Day page at https://www.gagives.org/organization/Youth-Orchestra-Association-Of-Greater-Columbus.

Georgia Gives Day is a single-day philanthropy event on the first Tuesday following Thanksgiving, known as Giving Tuesday. Throughout the day, donors are incentivized in different ways to make a financial gift supporting organizations they are passionate about. Other opportunities to show support include posting an #unselfie telling why you support your favorite causes, sharing your favorite nonprofits’ posts about the campaign, leveraging the hashtags #unselfie, #ggd, and #GivingTuesday on social media, and donating anytime between November 1st – December 3rd.

“Synovus has been a fantastic partner to YOGC for many years, and we are grateful for their continued support of our amazing musicians. These students work incredibly hard and love playing in YOGC’s ensembles. Your gifts go to support five programs that run for ten months out of the year and reach over 120 students. Please join Synovus, the YOGC Board of Directors, and our staff in making sure our community’s most precious asset, our children, have the best opportunities at their fingertips.” – Stephanie Payne, YOGC Executive Director.

Since 1993, the Youth Orchestra of Greater Columbus has been teaching the area’s most talented young musicians. Led by music director Jim Palmer, YOGC maintains the only symphonic orchestral opportunity in the region for string, brass, wind, and percussion musicians; a string orchestra for intermediate string players; five chamber groups; an orchestra festival provided at no cost to MCSD school orchestra programs; and a week-long summer string camp focused on alternative genres of music and playing styles. Rehearsals are held each Monday evening during the school season at the CSU Schwob School of Music.  For additional information e-mail info@yogc.org.
