I want to personally thank each and every one of you for the best possible end to the regular season that YOGC could have possibly had. Mr. Palmer mentioned to me, multiple board members, and several others that this is one of the best seasons YOGC has ever had in his 14 years with us. That is because of your work.
Parents, thank you for helping get your children to rehearsals, keeping them in their school ensembles, getting them in private lessons, prioritizing YOGC over the hundreds of other activities you and your children could be doing, helping me out during the year, helping your children practice, supporting them as they grow and learn. You’re unsung heroes, and I appreciate all of the background work you do day in and day out to even make YOGC possible.
Students, thank you for your music. You have worked so hard all year long to learn the music, show up at rehearsal every week despite sports, other activities, homework, and projects. When I was interviewing for this position, I attended the spring concert in 2015 and was really blown away by how good you are. You continue to impress and amaze me at your spirit, enthusiasm, hard work, creativity, and musical capacity. My favorite moments are hearing you play and talking to you about your lives.
I hope that this has been a good experience for all of you and that you will come back this summer for camp and next year. I wish all of the seniors all of the best. You have amazing things ahead of you. Please know I’m always here to answer questions, hear suggestions, and give any advice I have from my personal experiences that might help you.
I will be sending a survey soon so you can give us feedback on what you did and did not like, and we do take this into account and have changed things based on the results.
Thank you again for your time and spending it with YOGC this season. I can’t wait to see you at auditions and camp!
Stephanie Payne, YOGC Executive Director
